Cath was appointed Schools (Buildings and Finance) Officer
for Ely (Anglican) Diocese in February 2001 and has had responsibility
for procuring
funding for and directly managing all capital projects at
the 31 voluntary aided schools in the diocese. Cath was also
responsible for stewardship and management of the Board of
Education assets, including day-to-day accounting responsibility
and preparation of annual accounts.
In 2002 Cath set up a trading company for the diocese and
began offering voluntary aided schools a bespoke property
management service in conjunction with a partner from architects
Peter Smith Associates. The service proved extremely popular
with headteachers and generated a significant profit for the
diocese.
In April 2006, following changes to the funding arrangements
for capital works at voluntary aided schools, Cath offered
Ely Diocese voluntary aided schools a new service for the
management of their DFC funds; there was a 100 per cent take-up.
In September 2006 Cath founded Cath Conlon Project Management.
